Consistency Gets You to Your Goals

Earlier today I got an “all clear” at my dental check-up.  It made me think of how all that daily morning and night brushing and bedtime flossing have really paid off.  It is like your diet plan or your business life, if you do a little each day you get a payout down the road.  Sometimes the payout keeps paying out.

I’m down 24 pounds now.  It does not seem very fast, but I know how to make the weight go down now.  (I bet that is something you would like to experience too!)  I just eat my five packets of food each day and eat a lean and green meal and my weight goes down.  I drink lots of water and I eat some supplements too.  This is soooo wonderful!  You can make your weight go down too without feeling hungry and knowing you can have tasty and nutritious foods every three hours or so. Keeping Records of Your Workouts Helps

First, before we chat about workout records, HAVE YOU CHECKED WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST?  HAS HE OR SHE GIVEN YOU THE ALL CLEAR?  It is really helpful to get their advice based on your medical condition.  I want you to be well and safe.  Take baby steps daily in the right direction, but keep going if your health allows.  You will see improvements quickly once you have safely started with the doctor’s blessing!

Have you tried keeping records of your workouts?  I did not think it was worth the time, but actually a book I read about ten years ago convinced me of it.  It gives you a great feeling of accomplishment to see what you have done in the past.  It is cool to see how you progressed.  It gives you ideas of what to try next. Imagine Wearing Your Smaller Clothes Again!

It was pretty depressing for me to keep finding that I was getting bigger every season.  Have you found this also?

Over the past five years, I did not plan to get bigger; I was just consuming more calories than my body was burning.  I tried exercising, but I also spent more time in front of my computer working, so I was getting less exercise and getting older to boot!  It was fun trying foods that I had not eaten for a while, but I paid the price.  I got bigger.  Has this happened to you too?

Now that I have been on my new healthy living plan, I lost weight and have been able to spend time sorting through my clothes.  I can actually wear my clothes from four and five years ago again.  And, they mostly don’t even seem to be out-dated!  I still have a long way to go, because only the things that were loser then fit now, but some things that I wore a year or two ago are getting too loose again.  It is a great feeling!

Please write and tell me about how good you felt when you lost weight.  What did your friends say to you?

I Was SO Pleased with Myself!!

I wanted to share my excitement with you!… Four days ago I got on my tread climber for the first time in a couple of months.  I noticed that the settings were still set from when I was 21 pounds heavier and the heart rate monitor that I strap around me chest was quite a bit too big.  I was THRILLED that I had to change the settings!  And I had to tighten the strap too, so that the weight loss monitor would stay in place!  I was SO much smaller!

I developed sore heels, plantar fasciitis, about four months ago, so I changed to bicycling and walking for exercise, but have also been a bit reluctant to exercise due to my sore heels, travel, holiday and work excuses.

I changed the settings on the tread climber down 21 pounds.  That took quite a few presses.  I was just delighted to have this “problem” to deal with!  Since then, I’m down another pound, so have had to change it again.  It is SO COOL!  I’d love to hear your weight loss success stories.  I’ve tried other diets and other programs, but to find that my weight loss program is working for me.  I’m in a state of amazement!  I’ve found something that is easy for me to do.  I made my two brownie snacks for today as I’m on a brownie kick right now.  And,….you could be doing this too!  If feels so good to find a way to shed the pounds. Please let me help you feel better too.   Lose weight with me! Read the rest of this entry »

Sore Heels, Plantar Fasciitis

Have you had sore heels from spending time running for exercise?  I developed this problem after standing around the kitchen and running around the house taking care of birthday party plans and supervising overnight teenage guests.  I find that hanging out in my kitchen taking care of food and other jobs is a great way to be central in my house and to keep an eye on the kids and to be available when they need me.  (They are teenagers and they do still want and need my help.  I like to help, so that works out fine.)

At the time, I was exercising also, but the problem did not kick in until I’d spent most of four days standing around on cold tile floors with bare feet.  Have you ever done this?

I wanted my sore heel problem go away, so I went to see my doctor.  He suggested four things that I could do to help with my problem.

First, soak them in ice water.  If my heels were at an angle in a bowl of water, the swelling in my achillies tendon area would go down too.  So I placed the bowls out in front of me a foot or so and had my feet in the icy bowl at about a 45 degree angle.  That seemed to help, but it is painful and unpleasant at the time.

The next thing that I understood I was to do is to roll a tennis or golf ball around under my heel with some pressure on it to penetrate those heel tissues.

Third, I got two kinds of insoles from a sports shoe store to try in my shoes.  They seemed to help at first, but having to keep trying different combinations of shoes and insoles leaves you wondering which ones help and which ones seem to cause more problems.

Fourth, I also tried some heel stretches for the achillies tendon area.  They seem to help.

And, the other quick fix is to take some Ibuprofen as it reportedly reduces inflamation  as well as pain.  That is what I’ve read and heard several docs say.  (I’m not allowed to give you medical advice.  I can only share what I’ve been told or what I do.)

So, have you done any of these things to try to cure your foot problems?  What has worked for you?  I wish you well:-)

“Who Else Wants to Lose 45 Pounds?”

“Who Else Wants to Lose 45 Pounds?”

December 12th, 2010 | Author: WellnessWithLoretta

Hi, I’d like to tell you my story…I’m 45 and over the last two and a half years I’ve been trying to get fitter again, but I only seemed to keep gaining weight, then after I stopped going to the gym regularly after about one and a half years of regular training, I worked out a bit sporadically at home.  I managed to get four injuries which set me back from exercising regularly the way I wanted.  I was trying, but every season when I needed to wear my “hot weather” or my “cold weather” clothes, I just kept finding that I was bigger.  I had to buy larger and larger clothes.  I tried not to over-eat and tried to pay attention to my diet, but evidently, I had too many treats and too many large meals, too many “celebrations” and other indulgences.
A couple of months ago, I attended a networking event and met a woman who had “before” and “after” photos of herself.  She was real and she looked like the “after” photos.  I asked what her program was as it seemed to be so successful.  She told me that she ate every 3 hours with a program eating 6 times a day using portion control meal replacements plus a “lean and green” meal each day.  At first she did not even have to exercise.  The meal replacements had a balance of protein to carbs to fats in a ratio of 45:35:20.  I asked, “Do the products taste good?”  “Yes, they’re great!” she said.  I was sold.  http://www.WellnessWithLoretta.TSFL.com and click on the Optimal Health Video in the left bottom corner.
I decided to try the products as they had a return policy if I did not like them…..Now,  I am 21 pounds lighter and continuing on my way down!!  I am SO THRILLED to have found something to stop my weight gain and to help me lose weight.  I have not yet started exercising regularly as I developed plantar fascitis and have sore feet now.  I’ve been traveling and need to take care of my feet again to help this go away.  I could swim or go to the gym and ride a stationary bike (outdoors it is too cold for me at present!).  I will see what I can make happen tomorrow….
My favorite products to try are the brownies and hot chocolate!!!  I like the soups and chili choices for lunch and there are “pretzel sticks” and “cheese puff balls” that I like for morning and afternoon snacks.  There are both soy-based and whey-based products in different flavors to make them delicious.  They are a great incentive to help me lose weight.  Many people like the shakes, snack bars and the “soft-serve ice-cream”.  I like my brownie and hot chocolate treats most.  Cappuccino is also pretty good for “coffee-lovers”.  All of these soups, shakes and “treats” are actually well-balanced meals with vitamin and mineral additives, so that you do not have to add other nutritional supplements for those things while you are on this program.
I think this is an easy program to follow.  You just eat five delicious small meals each day and have one lean and green meal.  After you lose some weight, you begin a gentle exercise program gradually.  As you’ve read from many sources it’s healthy to eat six small meals a day, about once every three hours just like this program.  This program also teaches about controlling the portion size along with a complete lesson plan to change habits and lifestyle using the Habits of Health System.  The best part is, I have a “HEALTH COACH”.  She helps me to keep on track and answers my questions about this program.  She has been a great help to me.
I have decided to help others as I know I had a hard time trying to lose weight or not to overeat on my own.  This program is designed to help.  I’d like to help you to become a healthier you.  This is what I was looking for and I believe I can help many others.  (The best part is that this program has been around for about 30 years, the products are made in a safe, special production facility, and the products have been tested at John Hopkins by qualified physicians.  I have lost almost half a pound a day on this program.  Most people seem to lose between 2 and 4 pounds per week, but that is not guaranteed.  You do have to stick to the program for it to work.
Please sign up and try out the program!   http://www.WellnessWithLoretta.TSFL.com You will be SO GLAD that you did!!
